Workshop info in pdf
ETI is presenting a series of training events in the Detroit area in 2008. We're offering seven hands-on workshops and an executive overview of GD&T. All of the courses
were developed by GD&T expert and ETI president, Alex
Krulikowski.
ETI's public workshops are complete courses that teach how to apply and interpret GD&T on the job. They are more indepth than most public seminars, and much more than simply lectures. Each workshop provides hands-on training that includes practice exercises to help reinforce concepts. When you register for any ETI workshop, you know you'll be receiving the most thorough GD&T training available.
See our special workshop pricing.
All workshops include:
- Course materials/handouts
- An official certificate of completion
- Continental breakfast and snacks
Each person who attends a fundamentals or advanced concepts two-day workshop or the GD&T half-day executive overview receives over $225 in bonus materials:
Each person who attends a tolerance stacks two-day workshop receives over $120 in bonus materials:
- ETI's Digital Design Dictionary software (a $79 value)
- A Tolerance Stacks Application Workbook with Solution Set (a $45 value)
Each person who attends any one-day workshop receives over $75 in bonus materials:

Fundamentals
of GD&T 2-Day (ASME Y14.5M-1994)
If you have a basic understanding of mechanical drawings, Alex can
teach you the terms, rules, symbols, and concepts of GD&T as
prescribed in the ASME Y14.5M-1994 Standard. You'll
get an in-depth explanation of geometric symbols, including each
symbol's requirements, tolerance zones, and limitations. The class
includes a comparison of GD&T to coordinate tolerancing; an
explanation of tolerance zones; Rules #1 and #2; form and orientation
controls; tolerance of position; runout and profile controls. Throughout
the class, you'll hone your newly acquired skills with over 300
practice problems. This complete course in GD&T fundamentals
is the most thorough and comprehensive training on the market.
Advanced
Concepts of GD&T 2-Day (ASME Y14.5M-1994)
This accelerated course was developed to meet your advanced GD&T
needs by building on your existing fundamental skills. Youll
learn about advanced GD&T concepts like composite tolerancing,
tolerance analysis, datum selection, non-rigid part dimensioning,
and many more key dimensioning topics. The course covers a variety
of topics from advanced GD&T concepts to the system approach
for part dimensioning.
Tolerance
Stacks 2-Day
(Concept
Driven)
Exclusively from ETI, this advanced course will show you how to
calculate tolerance stacks, a crucial skill in todays competitive
workplace. Solve problems in the design stage instead of the production
stage, and save time and money by getting it right the first time.
Intro
to Statistical Tolerance Stacks 1-Day (Concept Driven)
This introduction to statistical tolerance stacks builds upon the
methods taught in the Tolerance
Stacks Using GD&T course. The course includes a brief review
of several terms used in statistical stacks, explains four methods
for applying statistics to tolerance stacks, and covers precautions
about when and how to use statistics in stacks. The course also
includes several stacks for the student to practice applying statistical
methods. It's
designed for individuals who create or interpret engineering drawings:
product and gage designers; process, product, and manufacturing
engineers; supplier quality engineers; CMM operators; buyers/purchasers;
checkers; inspectors; technicians; and sales engineers.
Engineering Drawing Requirements 1-Day
Our Engineering Drawing Requirements workshop is based on practical applications
of print interpretation. It will give you a better understanding
of the view representation, dimensions, tolerances, and symbols
used on prints. This hands-on workshop is based on ASME standards
and common industry practices. This workshop is designed for product,
manufacturing, and quality engineers; inspectors; machinists; production
personnel; purchasing agents; and anyone else who interprets engineering
drawings.
Solid
Model Tolerancing 1-Day (ASME Y14.41-2003) -
Exclusively from ETI
The Y14.41 Standard
establishes requirements for preparing, organizing and interpreting
3D digital product images. It also provides a guide for CAD software
developers working on improved modeling and annotation practices
for the engineering community. The Solid Model Tolerancing course
is not based on any single CAD system or product development process.
It covers concepts and standards that can be applied with a number
of CAD systems.
- Learn about
the ASME Y14.41 Standard and how to apply it in your organization
- Learn about
the status, issues, challenges, and plans for model tolerancing
in industry
- Gain insights
on math-based product development and how it can benefit your
organization
- Reduced
dimension drawings can save 20-50% time over conventional
drawings
- Annotated
models can save 50-70% time over conventional drawing
GD&T Executive Overview 1/2-Day (ASME Y14.5M-1994) - New!
The executive overview illustrates how GD&T affects the product development process. The 4-hour program gives management a perspective of how GD&T will impact and benefit various areas of the organization, and provides insights into the skills and strategies for maximizing ROI from using GD&T. It explains why GD&T is superior to coordinate tolerancing and gives an introduction to the terms, symbols, rules, and geometric controls used in GD&T.
System Approach to Component Tolerancing 3-Day - New!
This workshop teaches the thought processes involved in assigning GD&T to components. It will change the way many engineers think about part tolerancing.
The workshop focuses on four key areas: understanding what constitutes good and poor drawing practices, understanding the common dimensioning methods used in industry, using geometric tolerancing to communicate system functions on component dimensions, and understanding the logic on how to apply GD&T to components.
Students will learn how to do a design functional analysis on an assembly and use this information to assign dimensions and tolerances. They will also learn how to select datum features and how to fully define component surfaces using GD&T.

Students
who attend our workshops walk away with more than knowledge. They
gain on-the-job skills because our materials are performance-based,
and each workshop approaches the subject from a design perspective.
