Hi All,
This may be an elementary question, but want to have better clarity

This is an example of a hole located on a rectangular plate. As you seen many of the examples, this also uses datum A as perimary and datum B & C are used to locate the hole. But the hole is not normal to the primary datum A, but it is at an angle of say 60 degree to the primary datum A.

I have used basic dimensions to locate the hole from datum B & C.
I have made angle 60 as basic (To primary datum)
Positional control is used to locate the hole.'

The question is, since i have made angle 60 as basic, is it a legal specification? Since the angle is made basic do I need to use angularity control here? or position control is enough here?

This is an old post but:

No, you don't have to add an angularity control. Your basic angle dimension is required for the positional tolerance as the hole is not perpendicular to your datum feature A. You will get your angularity control 'for free' with the positional control you have applied, and it will be equal to the positional tolerance. Now if you require the angle of the hole to datum A to be controlled to a tighter tolerance than you get for free with the positional control, then you can apply an additional angularity control to the hole to datum A.......but remember, it must be a smaller value than what you have applied for position.
