1/List 2 places where datum targets should be used
2/Are the datum targets used when inspecting the flatness control? Explain why or why not?

Hi Man,

No, flatness is not measured relative to datum targets, since flatness applies to all points on the surface between two parallel planes un-related to any datums. It is a high point to low point check between two parallel planes. The first plane of the tolerance zone is tangent to the three highest points of the surface.

hi man

The Datum Targets will be used when you have a very big surface in a part in which you are going to use the all surface as your datum. in such cases you will have datum targets as square or circular patches.

The best example is Big Sheet metal parts like HOOD, ROOF and so on
