I have a part which has a partial cyclindrical surface that engages a motor shaft. When I say partial I mean that there is only about 170 degrees of cylindrical surface. If possible I would like to utilize the axis (or better - the centerplane) of the cylinder as a datum. This is easy enough to simulate with a CMM, but I am not sure if it is legal or how to dimension it on a drawing.
